SAVANNAH, GA — A couple was arrested Friday after allegedly skipping out on a $204 dinner bill at a Savannah steakhouse, a crime complicated by the fact that they did not simply flee but instead left behind a fully completed customer comment card criticizing the food, the service, and the “insufficient bread basket.”

Brandon Lee Tisdale, 36, and Megan Ruth Tisdale, 34, allegedly dined at The Pink Magnolia on Bull Street, ordering two steaks, a seafood appetizer, two desserts, and a bottle of wine before exiting through a side door without paying. Staff discovered, on the table where the bill should have been, a comment card on which the couple had rated their experience two out of five stars and written extensive feedback.

Constructive Criticism, Destructive Crime

The card, which the restaurant turned over to police, critiqued the ribeye as “overdone,” the server as “attentive but rushed,” and noted that “for these prices the bread basket should be bottomless.” The couple signed the card with their actual first names and, fatally, the loyalty rewards phone number they had provided when making the reservation.

Police traced the rewards number and arrested the couple at their home. They were booked into the Chatham County Jail on charges of theft of services.
