NASHVILLE, TN — A 33-year-old woman was arrested Saturday evening after crashing the wedding of two strangers at a downtown Nashville venue, sobbing audibly through the entire ceremony from a back-row seat, catching the bouquet during the reception, and then attempting to “continue the energy” by proposing on the spot to the groom’s best man, whom she had never previously met.

Brittany Lauren Faulkenberry reportedly entered The Bell Tower Wedding Venue at approximately 4:45 p.m., uninvited, after the doors had been left open for guests to circulate during cocktail hour. Wearing a black cocktail dress that one guest later described as “actually pretty appropriate, honestly,” Faulkenberry took a seat in the back row of the ceremony space and, according to multiple witnesses, began crying before the bride had even walked down the aisle.

For Better or for Worse, Mostly Worse

Guests assumed Faulkenberry was an emotional family friend. The bride’s grandmother reportedly passed her a tissue. The officiant paused briefly during the vows to acknowledge “all the love in the room.” Faulkenberry wept through the entire ceremony, applauded enthusiastically at the kiss, and then followed the bridal party to the reception, where she danced freely for approximately 40 minutes before catching the bouquet during the toss — beating out three of the bride’s actual friends.

“I figured she was someone’s plus-one. Then she caught the bouquet, dropped to one knee in front of my best man Cody, and said, ‘I think the universe is telling us something, Cody.’ Cody said, ‘My name is Brandon.’ She said, ‘Even better.'” — The Groom, name withheld

Brandon, 29, declined the proposal. Faulkenberry then reportedly demanded to give a toast, climbed onto a chair, and made it through approximately six words — “I just want to say that love” — before falling off the chair into a buffet table containing the wedding cake. Venue staff called police.

Faulkenberry was booked into the Davidson County Jail on charges of trespassing, public intoxication, and disorderly conduct. The bride and groom have declined to press additional charges and have reportedly invited her to send a card. Faulkenberry’s JailReport.lol booking photo shows her with what appears to be wedding cake icing in her hair and a single white rose still clutched in her hand. Bond was set at $1,500.
